Xbox's E3 Keynote: What You Need To Know


LOS ANGELES — Xbox kicked off its E3 keynote Monday with a trailer for Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain for Xbox One. At an event Microsoft promised to be full of games, the company delivered, showing off a substantial number of new titles not only for its newest console, the Xbox One, but also for its now 8-year-old Xbox 360.
The company also announced the console will be available in November for $499.

Xbox 360

Microsoft may have a shiny new console, but that doesn’t mean Xbox 360 is headed anywhere –- yet. Microsoft announced an updated look for the 360 resembling its new brother, the Xbox One.
The updated Xbox 360 will be available starting Monday.
It’s not just the console that's getting an upgrade. Starting July 1, Xbox Live Gold members, both new and existing, will receive two free game downloads per month. In addition to its existing titles, Microsoft will add a number of new titles into the mix, including Assassin’s Creed 2 andHalo 3.
A number of new titles are also on the way, including World of TanksMax: The Curse of BrotherhoodDark Soul IISplinter Cell Blacklist and Grand Theft Auto 5.

Xbox One

Microsoft announced 13 titles that we will only see on Xbox One.
“Welcome to the new generation of games,” said Microsoft's Corporate VP Phil Spencer before kicking off a showcase of titles for the console ranging from the high-speed hit Forza Motorspot 5to Dead Rising 3.
Here's a rundown of what we can expect:

Forza Motorsport 5

Forza Motorspot 5 learns how you drive the car, ultimately allowing it to compete for you — even when you’re not actually in front of the game. For instance, while you’re at work, it can earn credits for you along the way.


Minecraft

Already an Xbox fan favorite, Minecraft is headed to Xbox One.


Project Spark

Using Xbox SmartGlass (see below), Project Spark lets you create your own work environment to play in. Everything in Project Spark can be changed, boasting an infinite number of ways to play and build.


Battlefield 4

After some slight technical delays, we saw a real-time demo of the highly anticipated Battlefield 4at 60fps.

Xbox SmartGlass

Xbox One automatically records your games using in-game DVR. Now, it features an integration of Twitch.tv, letting you instantly broadcast your gameplay.
Xbox is also moving from Microsoft points to real money. Anyone in your household can take advantage of any of your Xbox Live Gold features, including multiplayer features, even when you're not logged into the console.
